Next year marks a milestone that fills me with gratitude, pride, and deep reflection: 25 years as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
I crossed in college as part of a powerful line we called The Final Four. We were small in number but mighty in presence. I held the number 2 position—always ready to support, stabilize, and keep momentum flowing. My line name was Pink Panther—a title that still resonates with me today.
The Pink Panther is graceful but strategic. Mysterious but intentional. Feminine yet fierce. That name became an energetic blueprint for how I moved through life—measured, poised, and always aware of my surroundings. And the number 2? It reminded me that leadership isn’t always about being out front. Sometimes it’s about being the backbone, the bridge, the balancer. I’ve carried that quiet strength with me through every chapter of my life.
Over the past 25 years, I’ve grown. I’ve changed cities, crossed oceans, navigated triumphs and transitions. But my love for this sisterhood has remained steady. The values of scholarship, service, and sisterhood shaped the way I walk, the way I show up, and the way I serve others—even when no one is watching.
Living abroad has given me an even deeper appreciation for what it means to carry this shield with grace. It’s not just about the colors—it’s about the calling.
As I prepare to reactivate through General Membership, I do so with reverence. Not just for the past, but for the future I still have to build with this beloved sisterhood. Twenty-five years in, and I am still learning, still growing, and still proud to say:
💗💚 I am a woman of Alpha Kappa Alpha.
I am Number 2. I am Pink Panther.
And this legacy is only just beginning.
